Right Royal Opening at Ipswich Hospital
Ipswich Hospital’s Garrett Anderson Centre was officially opened by HRH The Duke of Gloucester on Monday, July 7.
The Duke met staff and community representatives, touring the departments and facilities at the centre and unveiling a commemorative plaque.
Hospital Chief Executive Andrew Reed said: “The hospital is hugely proud of this new treatment centre, which gives us a 21st century healthcare environment for the benefit of patients in Suffolk. We are honoured to be welcoming HRH the Duke of Gloucester to see the first class facilities. The day will be one to remember in the hospital's history.”
The Garrett Anderson Centre opened in June. It houses a new emergency unit, more than twice the size of the former area and with a dedicated children’s department, an expanded critical care unit with isolation rooms to help fight infection, a day surgery suite with four theatres and an area dedicated for children and a 40-bed ward dedicated to elective care with 20 single rooms, all en suite.
HRH’s visit to Ipswich will also see him visit tourist attractions in the town including Christchurch Park and the Ipswich Waterfront.
