Top degree for Ipswich Hospital nurse
An Ipswich Hospital nurse has become the first in the region to gain a top university degree - and it's not to be sniffed at!
Janette Bartle, a nurse specialist, has been awarded a Master of Science (MSc) in Allergy.
Mrs Bartle, who started working at Ipswich Hospital in 1989 and became a nurse specialist in 2000, said: "This is an academic achievement very few clinicians in the UK have, and I am extremely proud.
"It demonstrates my understanding, knowledge and extensive research into allergies which enables us to provide a good quality service for the community."
It was Mrs Bartle who set up the hospital's pollen monitoring centre where the hospital gathers air samples to produce a local grass pollen count which contributes to form the national pollen forecasts.
Hospital Chief Executive Andrew Reed said: "The hospital is proud of Janette and to have this expertise within the trust."
