Mental Health Libraries and Resources

Welcome to the web pages for SMHP staff served by Ipswich Hospital Library. We operate satellite libraries at St. Clement’s Hospital (adult mental health resources) and Ivry House, Ipswich (child and adolescent mental health resources).

Please be aware that as of May 2010 these services are under review and may be subject to alteration in the coming months. Any enquiries regarding the provision of services should be addressed to the Assistant Director of Education, Suffolk Mental Health Partnerships, St Clement's Hospital, Foxhall Road, Ipswich.

Library staffing and opening times
St. Clement’s Hospital - 24-hour access to the library is available for SMHP staff via a secure keypad entry. Keypad codes are available from the reception desk of the hospital.

This library is staffed on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons but is open on a self-service basis at other times/days.

PLEASE NOTE: Visitors to the St. Clement's library will be required to produce their workplace photo-ID card to reception staff.

Ivry House - Open during office hours, access for SMHP at the discretion of reception staff.

Services and resources
SMHP staff may access any of the three libraries operated by Ipswich Hospital - click here to register. All resources and services listed on our homepage are available to SMHP staff including:

  • Access to books and journals
  • Training
  • Inter-library loan services
  • NHS Athens usernames and passwords
  • Literature search facilities
  • E-books: The library provides access to more than 150 mental health e-books that can be accessed using an NHS Athens login/password.

Many of our mental health journals are now available as online-only content and accessed via the NHS evidence web page at www.library.nhs.uk Opens in a new window or via the Athens link below. This is a list of titles available as of December 2009.
