Library and Learning Resources based at Ipswich Hospital provide resources and services to all NHS staff employed by Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, Suffolk Mental Health Partnerships, those working in primary care in east Suffolk and to students on placement.

The hospital library is based on the ground floor of the education department. We also serve two satellite libraries for mental health resources at St Clement’s Hospital and Ivry House.

Opening Times
The hospital library is staffed Monday-Friday, 8.30am-5.00pm. Staff requiring out-of-hours access can apply for a PIN.

Changes to library services in March 2010

The hospital library office will be closed for stocktaking and essential system maintenance on 22, 23, 24 and 30 March 2010.

Although trust staff will still be able to access the library and its computers, some services will be restricted on those days and our staff will not be available to answer enquiries.The following services will be available for users:

  • Books may still be borrowed using  the 'self-issue' system.
  • Books may be returned to the secure return box in the library foyer.
  • Book renewals: To renew your books, please leave a message on our answerphone (ext. 1544) or email the request to: hospital.library@ipswichhospital.nhs.uk
  • Interlibrary loan requests. Please complete a form and leave it the box provided on the library’s issue desk.
  • Requests for copies of journal articles should be sent via the library inbox at hospital.library@ipswichhospital.nhs.uk or left in the box provided on the library’s issue desk.
