Vision and strategy

Our vision is to be the provider of choice by placing the patient at the centre of everything we do, based on principles of quality and safety, access and accountability within an continuously improving environment.

The mission of the trust is to be renowned for our commitment to excellence in the provision of healthcare.  It is important to emphasise a number of words in our mission statement:

The Trust’s business strategy is one of consolidation. We will develop our services and maintain our position in the area for providing acute and specialised services to the wider community. We will work closely with local GPs and practice-based commissioning groups to ensure that we concentrate on our areas of expertise in both hospital and community settings.

Achievement of our vision and strategy is underpinned by three strategic objectives which are to provide:

• safe, reliable, personal and responsive emergency care, planned care, maternity and children’s care;
• nationally recognised care for older people in hospital; and
• a number of more specialised services where they meet defined accreditation standards.
